CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY POLICY

As a business we strive to maintain a strong and competent service, working with our sub-contractors, suppliers and employees fairly and ethically. We value integrity and honesty in all our business dealings and take a hands-on approach to managing projects and listening to our clients and their requirements. It is our goal to safely complete all projects on time, within budget and to the required high standard of quality we expect on all our projects.
We operate a quality management system which is certified under ISO 9001:2015. We are registered with Constructionline and have SSIP accreditation for health and safety with Acclaim. We also hold certification with SafeContractor and hold accreditation with SafePQQ, which demonstrates our commitment to safety and commercial standards used within our business and on all projects.
Worthy People
We recognise that our people are our most valued asset. They are passionate in what they do with years of experience that makes all the difference in delivery of services to clients.
We continue to aim to be an employer of choice and ensure that our workplace engenders cooperation and innovation though maintaining a workplace free form any personal harassment, ensure all employees are treated fairly and respectfully, and have effective two-way communication encouraging employees to offer opinions and alternatives to policies and practices.
We invest in our people through regular training and development, and consider any proposals a member of staff may have as regards training.
We invest in recruitment of younger people through apprenticeships, and provide support and encouragement throughout their apprenticeships with the business, with a view to employing them full-time on completion.
The CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is adhered to on all our projects, ensuring all employees are competent to fulfil their role.
We aim to reduce our RIDDOR annually with safety as our highest priority.
Supply Chain
We only work with suppliers and sub-contractors whose ethics and values align with ours. We have long-established working relationships with many of our sub-contractors, achieved by consistently meeting agreed payment terms and evaluating services provided. All of our sub-contractors are checked and are required to complete a full pre-service questionnaire confirming what standards and processes they have in place. We encourage site visits to develop collaboration.
Environmental and Sustainability Impact
Worthy Builders (Reading) Ltd is proud to announce that we are working with Planet Mark to measure our carbon footprint and have a positive impact on planet and society. Through the Planet Mark Business Certification, we will be measuring and reducing our carbon footprint to ensure that we are embedding sustainability into our business practices and year on year will strive to reduce our carbon footprint by 5%.
Committing to achieving Planet Mark Business Certification demonstrates our dedication to sustainability. We are excited to start reducing our carbon emissions to help create a planet that is fit for us and future generations. With the support of the entire business, we are working to do more good.
We are committed to reducing landfill waste, with recycling being paramount, working with our waste management contractors to divert as much waste as possible away from landfill. We also will continue to look at ways to reduce our carbon emissions.
Whilst all construction activities, however small or large they may be, have some impact on the environment, we are committed to keeping this to a minimum. We strive towards finding new opportunities to work with clients and specialists in the development of energy-efficient and sustainable design. Through our relationship with Planet Mark we are engaging with stakeholders and transparently communicating our sustainability journey.
To achieve our targets, we will implement the following initiatives:
- Annually measure and report our scope 1, and emissions, and look to also introduce scope 3 as part of this too;
- Communicate this policy across the company and to make it available to all interested parties
- Introduce more recycling
- Reduce our vehicle emissions with the use of bio-fuel where feasible and for the future look at electric vehicles
The success of this policy, and of our wider sustainability journey, cannot be achieved without a
collective effort from our entire organisation. Each individual in our business plays a vital role in
delivering our sustainability commitments and is integral to their success.
The management team will hold themselves accountable for the implementation of this policy by conducting regular reviews to meet compliance and measure progress.
Community Engagement
We strive to contribute to the socio-economic development of the communities we work in and recognise our responsibility to work in partnership with communities. We do this by supporting the employment of apprentices from local education establishments, and nurturing local business relationships through equipment, and materials where possible.
We also support charities.
Worthy Builders are committed to improving our performance as a socially responsible company and will continue to work with our staff, clients and sub-contractors to do so.
